It’s Day 2 and we are sharing DIY Gift Ideas!
As some of you know, my sweet 13-year-old daughter has Alopecia Totalis. It’s a disease that causes her hair to fall out, and so she navigates Middle School as a bald girl. It all started last year with a few patches of hair falling out until she was bald. So, all of this is new to her and she’s learning how she wants to present herself to the world. She tried wearing a wig last year, but we always (sort-of) joked that the wig covered her personality. This year she’s okay with being that bald girl in the baseball cap, until she isn’t. Because it’s hard to be different in a social media world where we compare our every day with someone else’s highlight reel–for her and for most women in our lives.
That’s why I wanted to find a way to give her and other amazing women sincere compliments for Christmas. But, how do you wrap a compliment? You don’t…I tried and it just looked weird in snowman paper. So I figured out a way to give framed compliments.
This gift is perfect for a woman in your life that should be reminded how amazing and special she is. The 8″ x 10″ printable features a beautiful bouquet of flowers and the words we most want to hear….”You are enough.” In the space below the bouquet, there’s heart cut-outs that tell her all the reasons why she is special.
This framed compliment art is so easy that it probably doesn’t need a tutorial. Just grab the free “You Are Enough” printable from our freebie library and print it on cardstock. Although for best results, you may want to have it printed at an office supply store on a color laser printer. Place it in an 8″x 10″ frame of your choice. If the “You’re Enough” printable doesn’t match your friend’s style or personality, you can easily design your own on Canva for free. Or you can grab one of the free or $1 deal graphic design resources available on The Hungry JPEG.com–my favorite site for graphic designs.
Cut heart shapes using your Cricut Explore, or by hand on coordinating cardstock in various sizes. Then write sincere compliments on the hearts to include in the bottom of the frame.
