I love blessings of all flavors and varieties, and these Native American blessings evoke the feelings that come with the change of seasons. It seems like we pay more attention to nature and its amazing ability to transform and change, and we gain a little courage in our ability to change too. Watching the fall leaves skip across the sidewalk, we can almost see the winds of heaven blowing love to us. We can see blessings that we have prayed for being sent our way even before we’ve received them, giving gratitude in advance.
I know that we sing praises to sweaters, crisp breezes, pumpkin spice lattes and falling leaves at autumn, but it’s the spirit of thanksgiving that truly brings color to fall. We slow down after a summer of grabbing fun by both hands and we remember that our greatest blessings are often found within the walls of our own home—even if they’re running around putting finger prints on the windows.
