Cricut Ornament Christmas Countdown Calendar
Cricut Ornament Advent Calendar
Easy Wood Ornament Christmas Countdown Calendar
It’s easy to make an impressive Ornament Advent Calendar or, if you prefer, A Christmas Countdown Calendar using your Cricut cutting machine. I used my Cricut Maker to create this Christmas Countdown Calendar by combining pre-cut wood ornament shapes (available at any hobby store and online) with cut paper shapes and images. By using coordinating scrapbook papers and adding sparkle with glitter vinyl, it was a cinch to make a Christmas Countdown that looks beautiful.

Here’s what you’ll need to know about making your Christmas Countdown Calendar using your Cricut Machine.
- This is a big, beautiful project but it’s also time consuming. Plan a few hours to complete the entire thing.
- You’ll need a way to hang your ornaments. In November I made a framed board with 30 hooks so I could use it as a monthly tracker for being grateful each day in November. I’m just using that same board in December for my Christmas Countdown Calendar. You could use a peg board, a small tree, or anything else that works with your home.
- You’ll need to purchase pre-cut wood ornament blanks. I chose simple round ornaments for this project
Supplies List
- 25 pre-cut wood ornaments
- Cricut glitter vinyl
- Coordinating scrapbook paper. I used 8 different patterns, 12 sheets total.
- Cricut Design Space Project here (I do use images available for Access Members)
- Spray glue, glue sticks, twine and embellishments
How to make your Christmas Countdown Calendar
- The Cricut Design Space Project includes: 25 circles, numbers 1-25, 25 Christmas images.
- I used brown for the color of everything that I cut in glitter vinyl. So, everything on Design Space that you see as brown, you’ll cut in glitter vinyl.
- For all the circles and images, I chose different colors to represent different scrapbook papers. See my photo below on the hack I use when creating projects with printed papers.
- I cut the entire project out one time, then I hid the all the numbers and Christmas images and cut out all the circles a second time. I did this so that the large file wouldn’t take so long to load.
- Once everything is cut, you’ll need to weed all the glitter vinyl images and all the numbers.
- Use spray glue to attach a circle of scrapbook paper to each side of your ornament.
- On one side of each ornament attach a number 1-25.
- On the other side attach one of the Christmas images. Images will cut out of different papers for contrast, so you might need to refer back to the Cricut Design Space project to get all the pieces in the right place.
- I suggest a Dr. Pepper or two and maybe a Hallmark Movie while you weed and glue everything.
- If you want to make the Countdown Banner, here’s that project on Cricut Design Space.
This is the third Advent Calendar that I’ve shared on my blog and they’re all very different, but I’ve used each of them–sometimes in the same year. The Advent Wreath is perfect for a small home because it combines your door adornment with your countdown calendar. It has a printable activity list for each day so that you don’t miss out doing the fun things that we all love to do at Christmastime. I’m going to use that activity list with this Ornament Advent Calendar. You can download both the advent wreath, and the activity list from the freebie library.
The other Advent Calendar I’ve shared is a true Advent Calendar, the Light of Christ Advent, that counts down the days by encouraging you to read a scripture about Christ on each day of the advent. It’s a calendar that I created for myself so that I was reminded to keep the spirit of Christ with me throughout the season. I use it every year and I love it. Again, you can download the entire project from the freebie library.
