This Farmhouse style Sunflower Christmas Tree is beautiful, easy, and won’t break the bank to make. Using my Cricut Explore Air, I was able to customize my ribbon to add that something special to the tree –something special meaning tractors and boots and such!
Supplies you’ll Need:
- 18- inch mini Christmas Tree. I chose to purchase a pre-lit tree, with a burlap wrapped base because it’s perfect for a farmhouse style project.
- 1 bush of sunflower silk flowers. You’ll need approximately 8-10 sunflowers and leaves.
- 1 roll 3″ plaid ribbon.
- 1 sheet Cricut Everyday Iron on in Gold Matte.
- Floral wire and wire cutters.
The easiest way to make this Sunflower Christmas Tree is to watch the step-by-step video tutorial below. But if you’re a reader I’ve also got the step by step instructions too.
STEP 1: Click here to access the project on your Cricut Design Space. Clicking the link will open the project in a browser window. All the images are available for free if you’re a Cricut Access member.
STEP 2: Click Customize.

STEP 3: You’ll see three white 3″ x 12″ rectangles that represent the three pieces of ribbon that you’ll be cutting and then ironing images onto. If your ribbon is a different width, then resize the rectangles to match–you can also resize the images for best fit.
STEP 4: Click the eye icon on the right of your mat next to each of the white rectangles. Since the rectangles represent your ribbon, and we’re not cutting the ribbon with the Cricut, then we don’t need to cut them and clicking the eye icon will hide them from cutting.
STEP 5: Click Make It and load your Cricut Everyday Iron-On (shiny side down) into your machine. Make sure you toggle the mirror-on button so that your words cut correctly. Select Iron-on for your material and cut it.
STEP 6: Weed the images and then iron them onto the three ribbon pieces.
STEP 7: Using floral wire, attach each end of ribbon to the tree branches, working your way around the tree.
STEP 8: Cut the sunflowers and leaves off of a silk sunflower bush. Place the flowers and leaves into the tree, moving them around until it looks nice. Once you like the tree, wire or glue on the sunflowers and leaves.
