Christmas Vintage Truck Tray Out of A Frame
Christmas Vintage Truck Tray & Sign
Working with Paper and Vinyl Projects
Christmas Vintage Truck projects are some of my favorite, probably because my dad taught me to be a car girl and so I’ve always loved classic cars and trucks. Or it could be that they’re just so cute! Their popularity means that you can find amazing cut files and clipart to use to create beautiful decor for Christmas.
For this project, we’ll make a Christmas Vintage Truck Sign and a Christmas Vintage Truck Tray made out of a frame. I’d love to think that these beauties will be perfect for your holiday cocoa bar!

It’s Day 7 and we are sharing Holiday Decor Ideas!
I’ve been experimenting with combining vinyl and paper to give projects more dimension and interest with some great results! Like these Christmas Vintage Truck projects.
Both the Christmas Vintage Truck Sign and the Christmas Vintage Truck Tray use a combination of scrapbook cardstock and vinyl. By combining these materials, you can create beautiful projects that are easier to put together than if they were just paper or just vinyl.
Here’s why. Large pieces of vinyl (like the truck body or the trailer) can be difficult to adhere without bubbling and small pieces of paper rarely cut cleanly and lettering cut from paper is difficult to align since paper doesn’t stick to transfer tape very easily.
One of my favorite mixed media projects is a holiday tray made from a picture frame. For this project, I picked up a pewter 8×10 picture frame and a pair of matching cabinet handles. I created a Christmas scene using printed scrapbook paper that looks like an aspen grove and a cut file for a vintage truck.
I purchased this Vintage Chevy Pickup Truck SVG file, and cut the truck and tree from cardstock and the remaining items from vinyl.
To finish the project, I used an epoxy glue to attach the cabinet handles to the side of the frame and added felt circles to the underside of the frame so that it wouldn’t scratch the surfaces it rests on.
The Christmas Vintage Truck and Trailer sign is a little more time consuming, but completely worth it!
I purchased this Vintage Tear Drop Camping Trailer and Truck SVG file for the sign project, and cut it out of vinyl and scrapbook paper to adhere to a piece of wood.
Tips for Successful Mixed Media Projects:
- Cut larger pieces out of paper or cardstock.
- Cut small and intricut pieces out of vinyl.
- Always use transfer paper to transfer the vinyl pieces to your project.
- For the best results, use spray adhesive on the paper/cardstock pieces.
- Pay attention to the order of application for each piece. SVG files don’t show you the order of application so you need to make sure that you layer the pieces in the right order so the finished project matches the look of the cut file.
